This is an ongoing photography project that will continue beyond university, exploring the contrast between the idyllic image of the Lake District and the lived reality of those who work and live there. From an
outsider’s perspective, the landscape can appear timeless and untouched. However, through conversations with farmers and local people, a different picture begins to emerge, revealing the pressures, challenges, and changing
relationship between people and the landscape. Through photography, the project aims to look beyond the familiar image of the Lake District and document the people and stories beneath its surface.
